http://tvandmoviereviews.com/9252011 movies trailers, in theaters

The Rum Diary is one of Johnny Depp’s new projects and is based on the debut novel by Hunter S. Thompson.

Are you ready? Here we go..

Tiring of the noise and madness of New York and the crushing conventions of late Eisenhower-era America, Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) travels to the pristine island of Puerto Rico to write for a local newspaper, run by downtrodden editor Lotterman (Richard Jenkins). Adopting the rum-soaked life of the island, Paul soon becomes obsessed with Chenault (Amber Heard), the wildly attractive Connecticut-born fiancée of Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart). Sanderson is one of a growing number of American entrepreneurs who are determined to convert Puerto Rico into a capitalist paradise in service of the wealthy. When Kemp is recruited by Sanderson to write favorably about his latest unsavory scheme, the journalist is presented with a choice: to use his words for the corrupt businessmen’s financial benefit, or use them to take the bastards down.

Here’s what I think. Johnny Depp is in it so I’m going and I know this is going to be a big success.

Due out in theaters on October 28,2011 TV and Movie Reviews presents The Rum Diary.

TV and Movie Reviews presents Prom

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

http://tvandmoviereviews.com/5132011 movies trailers, in theaters

At “Prom,” every couple has a story and no two are exactly alike. Several intersecting stories unfold at one high school as the big dance approaches; “Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom.” Featuring an emerging ensemble cast and a powerful soundtrack,

“Prom” hits theaters April 29, 2011.

Here’s what I think.. Perfect date movie for the younger set…Should do well in the theaters and then again as a rental.. Disney is behind this so no way it won’t be well done. Critics are saying that even though is has the Disney stamp, it is as corny and cliched as you would expect..Check out the trailer and let TV and Movie Reviews know what you think!

TV and Movie Reviews Dish on a Princess Di Project

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

http://tvandmoviereviews.com/1182011 movies trailers and more, in theaters now

Princess Di remains an iconic figure to this day — and considering how young she conveniently was when she died — it’s surprising there haven’t been more fictional portrayals of Princess Diana. Almost all of which are in cheesy TV movies and/or “South Park” satires. It’s possible this is the case because it’s difficult to portray Diana doing anything. That’s not meant to be an insult, but much of Diana’s life was doing public appearances, showing up at parties, speaking in front of crowds. She never acted, or sang, or took down terrorists. (As far as we know.) Diana can be difficult to dramatize.

At the American Film Market, though, a long awaited Diana project is finally coming together, and the lead role is to be played by none other than Jessica Chastain, previously known as Official Crush of The Projector. (She is also, it bears noting, another American actress portraying a British icon.) The film is called “Caught in Flight,” and will be directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, who previously helmed “Downfall.”

The film revolves around a secret affair between the late princess and a  heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Kahn, who was said to be the love of her  life. Described as a “love story between a princess locked in a tower  and an ordinary man,” the film is set to go into pre-production in March  2012.

The affair is, of course, best described as “alleged” (Diana is said to have met Dr. Khan in 1995and carried on an affair with him until her death in 1997.

Love to see Nicole Kidman in a really good movie, don’t you?

RABBIT HOLE is a vivid, hopeful, honest and unexpectedly witty portrait of a family searching for what remains possible in the most impossible of all… RABBIT HOLE is a vivid, hopeful, honest and unexpectedly witty portrait of a family searching for what remains possible in the most impossible of all situations.

Becca and Howie Corbett (NICOLE KIDMAN and AARON ECKHART) are returning to their everyday existence in the wake of a shocking, sudden loss. Just eight months ago, they were a happy suburban family with everything they wanted. Now, they are caught in a maze of memory, longing, guilt, recrimination, sarcasm and tightly controlled rage from which they cannot escape. While Becca finds pain in the familiar, Howie finds comfort.

The shifts come in abrupt, unforeseen moments. Becca hesitantly opens up to her opinionated, loving mother (DIANNE WIEST) and secretly reaches out to the teenager involved in the accident that changed everything (MILES TELLER); while Howie lashes out and imagines solace with another woman (SANDRA OH). Yet, as off track as they are, the couple keeps trying to find their way back to a life that still holds the potential for beauty, laughter and happiness. The resulting journey is an intimate glimpse into two people learning to re-engage with each other and a world that has been tilted off its axis.

RABBIT HOLE is directed by John Cameron Mitchell (HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH) from a script by acclaimed playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, adapted from his Pulitzer Prize-winning play. The cast, led by Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman (THE HOURS, Actress in a Leading Role, 2002) and Golden Globe nominee Aaron Eckhart, includes two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest (HANNAH AND HER SISTERS, Actress in a Supporting Role, 1986; BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, Actress in a Supporting Role, 1994), Tammy Blanchard, Miles Teller, Giancarlo Esposito, Jon Tenney and Sandra Oh

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

http://tvandmoviereviews.com/3202012 in theaters now

Based on an incredible real-life experience, 50/50 is a funny, touching and original story of friendship, love, and survival starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Anjelica Huston.

Here’s how this goes: Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a 27-year-old man who is otherwise in excellent health, is suddenly diagnosed with cancer. He breaks the news to his girlfriend (Bryce Dallas Howard), his best friend (Seth Rogen) and his mother (Anjelica Huston), who is also dealing with her husband (and Adam’s father: Serge Houde) who has Alzheimer’s disease. Each deals with the news and subsequent treatment in different ways. In the middle of it all, Adam also seeks therapy from a young and inexperienced therapist (Anna Kendrick), assigned to him by the hospital, and befriends several older, wisecracking chemotherapy patients (Philip Baker Hall and Matt Frewer).  Due out in theaters on September 20,2011 TV and Movie Reviews presents 50/50.

Critics are loving this saying it’s a good-hearted film that handles a difficult topic, and maneuvers between jokes and drama with surprising finesse. ..nice.

Here’s what I think. Seth Rogen is amazing and I think 50/50 is going to funny, touching and a big success.

TV and Movie Reviews presents City Of Life and Death

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

http://tvandmoviereviews.com/8102011 movies trailers, in theaters

In December 1937, the Imperial Japanese Army laid siege to the Chinese capital of Nanjing, killing as many as 300,000 citizens, the details of which Japan and China dispute to this day. CITY OF LIFE AND DEATH is a bold re-creation of these events, told with startling humanism through the eyes of both victims and occupiers. Delving into the psychology of the Chinese struggle to survive and a Japanese soldier’s struggle with his conscience, Lu’s film is ultimately an indictment against the cruelty of war.

Out in theaters as a limited release from Art House and Entertainment since May 11 this has the critics attention. A film strong enouogh to change your life if you can even bear to watch it at all!
