Kim Kardashian got quite a scare last evening, as a completely false rumor about Cher’s death spread on Twitter. Yup, this is yetanother celebritydeath hoax story!
“Did I juist hear Cher has passed away? Is this real? OMG,” Kardashiantweeted. We should all notice that Kardashian’s misspelling of “just” has been maintained to accurately depict her state of mind upon hearing the rumor.] “I hope this is a twitter joke and not true. I don’t see it on the news anywhere. I’m praying its not true…”
Perhaps, before tweeting this to her 12.8 million followers, Kardashian could have done a little digging. It seems the rumor began when Twitter user Lorraine_Star sent a tweet falsely attributed to CNN: “RT @CNN: American recording artist Cher dies at 65 years old. Found dead in Malibu home.” Then, like all good Twitter rumors, it spread to the point that it became a trending topic, “RIP Cher.”
About an hour after sending her first Cher-related tweets, Kardashian learned the truth: “Can’t believe people would make up a sick joke like Cher died. These people need to get a life! Thanks twitter for clearing that up!”

Kim Kardashian is under some scrutiny from Uncle Sam…Proponents of a proposed tax increase on millionaires in California are asking that question of the outsize personality, who has parlayed her reality TV celebrity status into fame and personal fortune.
An online video from the Courage Campaign targets the star of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” as part of its campaign for a proposed November ballot initiative to raise taxes on the wealthiest Californians.
The video ad flashes images of Kardashian enjoying the good life, proclaiming that “being on TV has changed my life, because you get lots of free stuff.”
Kim Kardashian made $12 million in 2010 but paid just 1 percentage point more in California income taxes than someone making $47,000 — 10.3 percent vs. 9.3 percent. The video ad, which is posted at www.Taxkimk.com , urges Kardashian to support the proposal for a tax increase.
“Not everyone was born a Kardashian, but we all need to pay our fair share,” it says.
A spokeswoman for Kardashian, Pearl Servat, did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday from The Associated Press.
The Courage Campaign and the California Federation of Teachers are among the groups backing a so-called millionaire’s tax that would raise income tax rates by 3 percent to 5 percent for individuals who make more than $1 million a year.
Proponents say the tax would raise about $6 billion to help fund public schools and local services that have been hit hard during the recession, such as social services, programs for the elderly and public safety.
If the groups are successful in getting their tax initiative on the November ballot, they would likely pursue a television ad on the same theme, Courage Campaign spokeswoman Ana Beatriz Cholo said.
Tax revenue to the state has dropped $17 billion since the recession began during the 2007-08 fiscal year, requiring billions of dollars a year in budget cuts.
The millionaires tax is one of several ballot proposals circulating in California seeking to increase income taxes on the wealthy as a way to help close the state’s annual budget deficit. In 2010, about 41,000 Californians reported adjusted gross income above $1 million, paying about $13.1 billion in taxes to the state, according to the Franchise Tax Board.
A proposal by Gov. Jerry Brown also seeks to raise taxes temporarily, and he has been reaching out to wealthy donors who could help finance his initiative campaign. The Democratic governor said he has found that most wealthy people are not too excited about increasing their own taxes, with some exceptions.
“I talked to Rob Reiner; he was very excited about paying more taxes,” the governor quipped last week. A spokesman for Reiner was not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
Through their reality TV shows and other promotions, Kim Kardashian, two of her sisters and their mother have created a celebrity brand name for themselves, appearing in endorsements for everything from weight-loss products to fast food. Forbes magazine estimated Kardashian made $12 million in 2010.
Kim Kardashian’s father, Robert Kardashian, was an attorney and close friend of O.J. Simpson who played a prominent role in his murder trial.
After a lavish, made-for-TV wedding event last summer that reportedly netted the couple millions of dollars in royalties, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in October, citing irreconcilable differences just 10 weeks after she wed NBA player Kris Humphries.
The couple’s star-studded, black-tie ceremony was held at an exclusive canyon estate near Santa Barbara in the seaside enclave of Montecito. Kardashian wore three different designer wedding gowns, complemented by her 20.5 carat engagement ring. The couple’s wedding registry at a Beverly Hills jeweler totaled $172,000 and included such items as a $1,650 coffee pot and two $1,250 sterling silver vegetable spoons.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Kim Kardashian does not think so.
But Kim Kardashian has been left furious after clothing brand Old Navy used a lookalike in their new ad campaign.
The 30-year-old reality star is now suing the clothing giant for somewhere in the region of $15 – $20 million.
Perhaps adding to Kardashian’s fury is the fact that the model and actress in the ad, Melissa Molinaro, is said to be currently dating 26-year-old NFL player Reggie Bush.. who we know used t date Kim Kardashian…. It’s a small world huh?
Molinaro’s music video-inspired campaign for the company has become a web video viral hit.
The ‘Super C-U-T-E’ clip, promoting the brand’s jeans, has so far had 1.7 million hits.
Kim filed her federal lawsuit against Old Navy in Los Angeles today, asserting that the company are using the double in order to make people believe she is associated with the label.
She is suing the company for ‘the unauthorised use of Kardashian’s name, likeness, identity, and persona.’
Represented by intellectual property attorney Gary Heckler, Kim’s representation told the MailOnline she is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
The reality star claims in the lawsuit, which was first reported by TMZ, that Old Navy is using Molinaro to ‘evoke her identity and persona.’
A statement from Kim’s representation reads: ‘Old Navy launched a multimedia advertising campaign featuring television and online ads that misappropriate Kardashian’s likeness in the form of a celebrity look-alike, and styled the infringing ads to evoke Kardashian’s identity and persona.’
‘Kim Kardashian is immediately recognisable, and is known for her look and style. Her identity and persona are valuable. When her intellectual property rights are violated, she intends to enforce them,’ her lawyer added.
Kim is said to be especially angry that along with the advertisement, Old Navy are consistently tweeting promotional titbits about the campaign, linking them to her own Twitter account.

Kim Kardashian was flour bombed at a red carpet event for new fragrance, True Reflection, on Thursday night. The reality star had just finished posing for photographers when a woman approached Kim and proceeded to dump the bag of white powder (believed to be flour) on Kim’s head. A witness told Access Hollywood that Kim was “shocked.”
Kim Kardashian may have dusted herself off following a flour attack, but the star revealed she may still press charges.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star played it cool after a young woman threw a bag of flour at her at the launch party for her new fragrance True Reflection in Hollywood, but said she might file a complaint.
“I said earlier no I wasn’t. I am just going to think about it, because I don’t want someone to think they can really get away with that. So we are going to handle that,” she told E! News.
Kim, who was posing for pictures before an unidentified woman pelted her with white powder, admitted it was “scary” despite initially making a joke of what happened.
“I was laughing it off earlier and, you know, I think that is the only thing I knew how to do at the time,” the reality TV star said.
“Now that I think about it and had some time to digest it, I think, ‘What if that was some other substance? What if that person had a dangerous weapon?’ It’s scary.”
She added: “What’s even scarier is this woman acted as if she was a part of the press. She just came out of nowhere! And so we are definitely changing things up a little bit, amping up security, taking some measures, and… I’m gonna definitely deal with it because it is not acceptable.”

Would you expect the Kardashians to let an event as momentous as Kim’s wedding go by without monetizing every single part along the way?
And according toreports, Kris Jenner orchestrated a series of eye-popping deals related to the nuptials. As such, not only will the Kardashian Clan not be spending any money on the wedding, they’ll be raking in heaps.
– Exclusive pictures. Rights for photos from the wedding apparently sold for $1.5 million to People (which also ran the enagagment photos). We should get our first look at the images Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

Kim received $50,000 from Tao to host her bachelorette party there. Hansen’s Cakes is gifting them their wedding cake (their cakes typically sell for about $6,000). And, of course, there’s the dress: Vera Wang is creating a $20,000+ gown for Kim.
Meanwhile, Kim celebrated with groom-to-be Kris Humphries and about 80 others Thursday night for a three-hour rehearsal dinner, where — knowing Kris Jenner as we do — the tab was no doubt picked up by some brand looking for some of that Kardashian buzz.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries spent their second-to-last night as an engaged couple surrounded by friends and family.
The pair — set to wed on Saturday — celebrated their upcoming nuptials with a rehearsal dinner at The Montage’s Scarpetta in Beverly Hills on Thursday, as Access Hollywood spotted family members, including the bride- and groom-to-be, Kris and Bruce Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick, as well as younger sisters Kendall and Kylie, entering the hotel on Thursday night.
Wearing a short, tight white dress, Kim was surrounded by throngs of camera operators as she made her way into the swanky hotel.
“She seemed very business-like,” an eyewitness reported.
Kim’s sister, Khloe, wore a form-fitting black skirt accented by Christian Louboutin black heels, while brother Rob caught a few double-takes due to his low-key wardrobe choice.
“Everyone else was completely dressed up and Rob was 100 percent the opposite,” the source told the mag. “Kris’ friend teased Rob about his sweats and how under-dressed he was.”
Surrounded by approximately 80 guests in a private dining room, Khloe gave the first toast, followed by Kris Humphries’ friend and New Jersey Nets teammate Jordan Farmar and finally, Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner.
Well wishers are out and about all ready talking about the groom Kris Humphries, the NBA player is about to become Mr. Kim Kardashian. As one report said ”He is the perfect person to marry Kim Kardashian, because he knows his place, which is just behind her.”

The 30-year-old, who is marrying Kris Humphries, will have a televised ceremony
(set your Tivo!) and wants a wedding cake like the one served for Will and
Kate’s bash. Unlike her English counterpart, Ms Kardashian will have an
American wedding dress designed by Vera Wang, Kim confirmed on Twitter.
The newly-married royal couple had a massive traditional multi-tiered fruitcake with cream and white piping designed by famous British baker Fiona Cairns.
Kardashian and Humphries, who were spotted at Los Angeles bakery Hansen Cakes on Friday, will have a 10-tier white cake with chocolate-chip icing and black-and-white decorations, according to reports.
It’s no surprise to Kardashian’s family that the reality star and her NBA player beau, 26, are taking cues from the royal’s lavish affair.
Soon after Kim Kardashian got engaged, sister Khloe Kardashian Odom told reporters that the wedding is “going to be royal wedding number two.”
“I could only imagine Kim having the hugest wedding,” she added.
But, Kardashian’s Aug. 20 wedding will have one thing the royal couple’s wedding did not.
While William and Kate’s nuptials was aired live around the world, Kardashian’s will be featured in a two-part special, “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event,” on October 9 and 10 on E!.
