http://tvandmoviereviews.com 4182010-So it seems that the movie Kick Ass that premiered on Friday has inspired some sort of critical debate.. Either it’s a wicked cool comic-book adaptation that’s not to be taken seriously, or it’s disturbingly violent and dehumanizing. WOW
Apparently the director Matthew Vaughn, adapting the Marvel/Icon comic-book title that satirizes and worships superhero conventions, tries to have it both ways. When the movie is cool, it’s very, very cool — and when it’s disturbing, it’s very, very disturbing.
The title hero is Dave Lizewski (played by Aaron Johnson), a nerdy high-school kid who starts harboring a dream of becoming a superhero. He buys a wet suit with a mask, and starts training himself to fight crime. His first effort is a disaster. He emerges from the hospital with his pain receptors deadened and his broken bones held together with “more metal in me than Wolverine” After a second fight against street criminals, Dave’s Kick-Ass persona becomes a YouTube sensation, changing Dave’s life radically. His crush, Katie (Lyndsy Fonseca), thinks he’s gay (otherwise he would not have taken a beating??)and wants him to become her new best friend. A Batman-wannabe called Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) takes an interest in Kick-Ass’ antics — and sends his young daughter, a skirt-wearing assassin known as Hit Girl (played by Chloe Grace Moretz), to dispatch some drug dealers that are about to kill Kick-Ass.Also, a crime boss (Mark Strong) wants Kick-Ass dead, prompting the boss’s son (Christopher Mintz-Plesse) to come upwith a superhero persona — Red Mist — to set Kick-Ass up for an ambush. The crime boss links back to Hit Girl’s origin story, because he’s the man against whom Big Daddy is seeking vengeance. Are you keeping up?
OK so the lines are maybe a a little blurred and maybe the father daughter relationship makes you go ” wow” .. I would think we would be able to take this for the mindless entertainment that it is and move on….
Regardless of how “Kick-Ass” leaves the movie goer feeling, , you can’t dismiss the acting Oscar winner Nicolass Cage does a great job and the rest of the acting is grade A.
So tell us at TV and Movie Reviews what you think… why did you or why are you going to se Kick Ass?? Are you not going for some reason?
